Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-23

FileYay is built so that we never need your files. This policy explains what that means in practice.

Your files

The tools on FileYay run inside your web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Files you open in a tool are read and processed on your own device. They are not uploaded to our servers, and we cannot see, store or share them. When you close the page, the data is gone.

Some tools download a processing engine (for example, the video engine) from a public content delivery network the first time you use them. Only the engine is downloaded — your files are not sent anywhere.

Information we collect

  • Basic usage statistics. We may use privacy-friendly analytics to count page views and which tools are used, so we know what to improve. This data is aggregated and does not include your files or their contents.
  • Technical logs. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and reliability, for a limited period.
  • Local preferences. We store small preferences such as your language choice in your browser's local storage. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings.

Accounts and payments

The free tools do not require an account. If we offer paid plans in the future, payments will be handled by a third-party payment provider acting as merchant of record; we will not see or store your full card details. This policy will be updated before any such feature launches.

Cookies

We do not use advertising cookies. If this changes, we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we do not receive your files, there is usually very little data to request. Contact us using the details below.

Children

FileYay is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
